The nose is unmistakably Syrah with white pepper, raspberries and an underlying aroma of French oak. On the palate, the wine plays between the Central Coast of California and the Rhone Valley of France. On the one hand, there's an abundance of up front, ripe Syrah fruit, which is the California side of things. On the other hand, instead of a syrupy, alcoholic finish, there's plenty of refreshing acidity, plus the alcohol is in balance and doesn't stand out. The tannins have integrated from when the wine was first bottled in early 2018. This Syrah is drinking well now and should continue to improve through at least 2024.
