Chateau Cantemerle is in the southern part of the Medoc, and has history dating back to the 1200's. They are considered a classified fifth growth, but due to the first adjustment to the classification in 1855, in which they were added to the list. The only such classification, other then the promotion of Mouton Rothschild in 1973.
