The Dassault Family, passionate pioneers in aeronatic industry, became interested in wines very early. So in 1955 he purchased Chateau Couperie, and renamed the winery in the family name. In 1969, have many years of work in the Chateau and in the vineyard, the winery was elevated to a Grand Cru Classe. The Chateau has increased to almost 50 hectares, and os one fo the largest land holders in St Emilion.
